Sharp

Sharp is a company that gained mass recognition during the 1983-2000 period where it was the shirt sponsor for Manchester United football club. A great part of this publicity is merely recognition due to advertisement but another part is also that Manchester United had perhaps their golden era during this period and were very successful. Sharp is a Japanese company that operates in the electronics industry. Among its consumer products are LCDs,home appliances and communication equipment. On a side note, Sharp is one of the top 20 semiconductor manufacturers of the world (as forecasted for 2007 by iSuppli Corporation). The Sharp Zaurus is the name of Sharp's lineup of PDAs. The Sharp Zaurus was one of the first PDAs to be made available in Asia and while it has been immensely popular in Japan since its release in 1993, it is not as popular elsewhere. This is mainly because the earlier Zaurus PDAs used proprietary Sharp OS which had Japanese UI thus restricting its usage elsewhere. On the other hand, Sharp later started selling Zaurus PDAs elsewhere with open source Linux distributions as well as OpenBSD. However, most of these distributions allow proprietary Sharp software to run on them. Accessories for the following laptop manufacturers are available at PDA Accessories: Acer, Averatec, BenQ, Canon, Dell, Fujitsu, Gateway, Hitachi, HP, MacBooks by Apple, JVC, Mitsubishi, NEC, Nikon, Sony, Toshiba, Trigem, Viewsonic, WinBook, etc.

Palm

Palm or rather PalmOne to be precise was originally a division of US Robotics and later became a wholly independent PDA manufacturing company. It used to be that all Palm devices ran on the Palm OS however as of the Palm Treo 700W. Furthermore the market for PDAs is being contested more and more as many phone manufacturers are now making multi-function smartphones which combine the functions of a PDA with a cell phone so that it is expected that soon PDA-only devices will no longer be available. The full list of Palm devices would be fairly lengthy however the following devices are some of their more successful ones: The PalmOne Centro, the Palm Treo series - PalmOne Treo 600, PalmOne Treo 650, PalmOne Treo 680, PalmOne Treo (TM) 680, PalmOne Treo 700p, PalmOne Treo 700W, PalmOne Treo 700WX, PalmOne Treo 750, PalmOne Treo (TM) 750 and the PalmOne Treo 755p, the Palm series - PalmOne II, PalmOne III, PalmOne V, PalmOne VII which was replaced by the m series - PalmOne m100, PalmOne m105, PalmOne m125, PalmOne m130, PalmOne m500 and PalmOne m505, the Tungsten series - PalmOne Tungsten C, PalmOne Tungsten E, PalmOne Tungsten E2, PalmOne Tungsten T, PalmOne Tungsten T2, PalmOne Tungsten T3, PalmOne Tungsten T5, PalmOne Tungsten TX and PalmOne Tungsten W, the PalmOne i705, the PalmOne LifeDrive, the PalmOne VX, the PalmOne Z22 and the Zire series - PalmOne Zire, PalmOne Zire 71 and PalmOne Zire 72. Orange

Orange SPV was a type of smart of phone made by High Tech Computers (HTC) for the telecommunication company Orange SA and particularly for its mobile operator division. SPV stands for Sounds, Pictures and Videos so if you were expecting something complicated we are terribly sorry to disappoint you. Like many cell-phones, smart-phones and PDAs, the SPV line largely uses Texas Instruments processors (with the exception of a one that uses a Samsung processor). The SPV line continues even to this day and its latest manifestation was the SPV E650 smart phone. The SPV line has also standardized the Microsoft Windows Mobile OS ever since the launch of the original SPV which operated on the Microsoft Smartphone 2002 OS. Amongst the many smartphones released by Orange SPV are the Orange SPV M1000 and Orange SPV M2000 which seem to hold a special place in many people's memories as they were amongst the first Windows powered smartphones and thus carried mobile versions of Outlook, Internet Explorer, Media Player in addition to calendar, task and contact which meant it was particularly useful for business users who could keep in touch with their work while on the go. The following types of products are available at PDAaccessories: Bluetooth, Package, Leather Cases, Carrying Case, Chargers and Synchronizers, Stylus, Data Storage, Battery, Screen Protectors, Screen Cleaning Kits, Hands Free, Keyboards, Kits, Gaming Console Accessories, Booster Sticker, Antenna and Amplifiers, Gadgets, Cameras, Laptop Chargers, Laptop Keyboards, Wireless Cards, GPS Batteries and GPS Mounts.

Nintendo

Nintendo, makers of classics, innovator of new trends, the old the new combined. Yes, although Nintendo has been rather inactive in recent times, the launch of the Wii has led to it once again becoming a dominant player in the console wars. In fact Nintendo is the leader in terms of console sales for this generation of consoles and even though both the XBox 360 and PS3 are technically far superior the Nintendo Wii's innovative and (physically) challenging but immensely fun style of play has made it a success. From its first venture (mass produced) into gaming consoles NES to the Wii, Nintendo has persisted in trying to be fresh with its game designs and gameplay (Duckhunt anyone? Hint: Light Zapper) and outdone its combination by sheer ingenuity. The same can be said of its game development ranging from the old classics (Donkey Kong, Mario Bros, Excite Bike, Duck Hunt, etc) to its modern classics (Zelda, Wii Sports, to an extent Pokemon, Wii Sports, Animal Crossing, etc). It is also (undoubtedly) the most experienced and one of the leading manufacturers of portable consoles (Gameboy Advance/Color/Pocket, DS) and have encouraged innovative gameplay in the DS as well with the two screens, one of which is a touch screen. Accessories for the following brands are available at PDA Accessories: Apple / Ipod, Audiovox, Casio, Dell, Handspring, i-mate, MDA, Kyocera, Microsoft, Motorola, O2, Orange SPV, Palm, Qtek, Blackberry, Samsung, Sharp, Siemens, Sony, T-Mobile and Toshiba.

Motorola

Motorola is probably best known for its mobile handset the Moto RAZR, however its business encompasses networking systems, microprocessors, embedded systems and even used to include government and defense business before it was sold off to General Dynamics. However, it was the Moto RAZR that made it popular and comprised the bulk of its revenue so when it went out of fashion, unsurprisingly Motorola's revenue too fell drastically. However, the RAZR was not the only phone that Motorola made, amonst others were the Motorola Q and Motorola Moto Q9m or Q9c PDAs. Other than that the more popular Motorola phones are: Motorola i265, Motorola i335, Motorola i580, Motorola i670, Motorola i850, Motorola i880, Motorola i930, Motorola KRZR K1, Motorola RAZR V3 Pearl Gray, Motorola RAZR V3m, Motorola RAZR V3t, Motorola RAZR2, Motorola V195s, Motorola W490 Purpal and Motorola Z3. The following types of products are available at PDAaccessories: Bluetooth, Package, Leather Cases, Carrying Case, Chargers and Synchronizers, Stylus, Data Storage, Battery, Screen Protectors, Screen Cleaning Kits, Hands Free, Keyboards, Kits, Gaming Console Accessories, Booster Sticker, Antenna and Amplifiers, Gadgets, Cameras.

Microsoft

Microsoft, the first thing that comes to mind is monopoly and not the boardgame either, for how often have we heard the two words together. However there is a lot more to Microsoft than just being a monopoly. Other than Microsoft Windows, the world renowned operating system, Microsoft also develops other software such as Microsoft Office (productivity software), Internet Explorer, Media Player, Encarta, Messenger, Silverlight and a host of software both for development and casual use. Microsoft has also diversified to the hardware market with their own lineup of mice, portable music players (Zune) and gaming consoles (XBox and XBox 360). Microsoft has also developed an operating system for mobile devices such as PDAs known as Windows Mobile. Accessories for the following laptop manufacturers are available at PDA Accessories: Acer, Averatec, BenQ, Canon, Dell, Fujitsu, Gateway, Hitachi, HP, MacBooks by Apple, JVC, Mitsubishi, NEC, Nikon, Sony, Toshiba, Trigem, Viewsonic, WinBook, etc.
